Mrs. E. came to our Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic with aesthetic concerns about her smile. She stated that she was not happy with her smile, and she wanted me to provide her with the "perfect smile."

Her previous Cosmetic Dental treatments were bondings on her anterior teeth, which were failing at that time. She was so upset about her look. One of her friends was working in our clinic, and she recommended me to her. She already had the information and the trust in my Cosmetic Dentistry approach. I explained the process step-by-step with similar patient pictures. After years of experience, finding a comparable case isn't much of a hustle. Showing previously completed patients who had similar issues helps a lot. It helps them to imagine the possible outcome on their faces. Although this method serves us, we should rely on neither our nor our patients' imagination. We need to use our Digital Smile Design tools to improve Cosmetic Dentistry treatment planning skills.

I explained the Digital Smile Design (DSD) concept to my patient and explained the advantages of designing the perfect smile and comprehensive dental treatment planning. She loved the idea. When she learned that we show the possible outcome to our patients using temporary veneer materials in their mouth, she was super excited about the Cosmetic Dentistry treatments in Toronto Smile Design.

In her case, in addition to her failing bondings and discoloration issues, there was an angulation issue. The left side and right sides of her smile were not symmetrical. We call this situation "Canting." I know that I need to level them to create that "perfect smile" my patient has been seeking.

After having the Digital Smile Design Perfect Smile wax-up, I transferred the smile transformation plan to my patient's mouth using temporary dental crowns and veneer materials. These materials have allowed us to show how their perfect smile, porcelain crowns, and porcelain veneers will look on their faces. Please don't get me wrong; this doesn't mean that whoever starts DSD will end up with porcelain veneers and dental crowns. This concept is a comprehensive treatment planning protocol in Dentistry that helps us to plan our treatments thoroughly. In some cases, we need porcelain crowns, bonding, porcelain veneers; in others, we need orthodontic treatment, periodontal gum contouring surgeries. Most of the time, I don't want to comment on my patient's treatment plans before I design their smiles. I want to be 100% sure about my treatment plans. I want my treatment plans to satisfy my patients' biological, structural, cosmetic and psychological needs.

When she saw her Smile Makeover test-drive mock-up, she fell in love with the Cosmetic Dentistry treatment plan. She wanted to proceed with the treatment plan. I planned to provide her with six porcelain veneers and one dental porcelain crown. Since she doesn't show her gum line, we didn't need to change her gum line with a laser gum contouring procedure. If we do, this would be unnecessary treatment.

After fourteen days, we received the dental veneers and porcelain crowns milled with CAD/CAM Digital Dentistry and layered by a Certified Dental Technician. She loved the result! Such a journey. This excitement never gets old. Every new smile transformation patient feels like my first smile rehabilitation case!
